From the 1979 Flag Act:

Section 24. The Royal Thai Army Military Rank Flag is rectangular shape with 2 parts width and 3 parts length and a red field. There are 5 levels, which are: (1) Field Marshal Flag which has, in the middle of the flag, charges arranged into a pentagonal shape of Royal Baton and Saber crossed above a wreath of leaves in the middle of a group of 5 five-pointed stars; one side of the pentagonal shape arrangement shall be its underside which runs in parallel with the bottom edge of the flag; these charges are depicted in yellow.

General

Section 24. The Royal Thai Army Military Rank Flag is rectangular shape with 2 parts width and 3 parts length and a red field. There are 5 levels, which are: (2) General Flag which has, in the middle of the flag, charges of 4 five- pointed yellow stars arranged in a rhombus shape where each angle of the rhombus shape arrangement shall be placed along the length of the flag.

Section 24. The Royal Thai Army Military Rank Flag is rectangular shape with 2 parts width and 3 parts length and a red field. There are 5 levels, which are: (3) Lieutenant General Flag which has, in the middle of the flag, charges of 3 five-pointed yellow stars arranges in a triangular shape; the base of the triangular shape arrangement shall be its underside which runs in parallel with the bottom edge of the flag.

Section 29. The Royal Thai Army Command Flags are: (1) The Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army Flag which is rectangular shape with 2 parts width and 3 parts length and a red field; in the middle of the flag, there is a charge of the Royal Thai Army emblem; underneath the emblem, there are charges of 5 five-pointed stars with one star in the middle and to the left and the right sides of the star in the middle there depict 2 stars on each side; these charges are in yellow.

Commander-in-Chief of the Army 1938-1979

The Flag of the Commander-in-Chief of the Army (B.E.2482) [_1939 AD_]
This flag resembles the "Trairanga", with the base [_sic – probably "width"] measuring 5/6 of its length. [_Similar to the Naval Jack, removing anchor and with clockwise and more detailed Chakra.]

In the middle stands a Chakkra beneath a yellow crown. The flag was first created in B.E.2479 [_1936 AD_], but was later changed to the version seen above, following a Royal Decree (Issue 2) concerning flags; issued in B.E.2481 [_1938 AD_]. The design of the flag currently in use, however, is a little different.

The description seems to imply that the ratio is 5:6. The image however shows a 2:3 flag like the regular Trairanga. In Flaggenbuch 1939 it appears as a 5:6 Trairanga with only a large, centered, white Chakkra, its diameter being 5/6ths of the hoist.

The Royal Thai Army Command Flags are: (2) Regional Commander Flag which is of the same characteristics and colour as the Commander-in Chief of the Royal Thai Army Flag except that there are charges of 3 five-pointed stars in the middle, with 1 star underneath the Royal Thai Army emblem and 1 star each to the left and the right sides of the emblem.

The Marshal's Flag
This is a red flag with the Royal Sceptre crossed by sword in the center, above which stands a flaming Chakkra and the Greater "Mahapichai Mongkut" Crown.

The flag, first made its appearance in 2455 [_1912 AD_] during the reign of King Mongkut, was used by a Marshal in to Army. Since then, however, use of this flag has been discontinued.

There is some mistake here, since King Mongkut reigned 1855-1868.

The mistake is that the king who invented Triranga flag in 1912 AD is King Mongkutklao (Rama VI). His father is King Chulalongkorn the Great (Rama V). King Mongkut mentioned in your article is actually his grandfather (Rama IV).Nimit Chomnawang, 9 May 2002
